About Nicole

Nicole-19_Web

Hi, I’m Nicole Smithee.

I spend a good chunk of my time on airplanes, traveling the world speaking at churches, conferences and events. I also spend a good chunk of my time grabbing coffee with young women coaching them on leadership and personal development- talking everything from career to faith and spirituality to relationships to health to overcoming those stubborn hang-ups that keep most people from living their fullest lives. And I also spend a good amount of time pounding away at my laptop (I’m an annoyingly loud typer)- writing blogs and sermons and chapters with the sole intent of inspiring and empowering others to live boldly and compassionately, leaving their unique mark on the world.

You may have caught that I wrote, “chapters.” Yep, you read me right. I’m currently working on a book, which is a wild ride I’m sure you will hear a lot more about over the next year.
I live in the greatest city in the world, New York City with my husband Ben. Yes, Manhattan is loud and dirty and crowded, and yes, our apartment is the size a shoe box; but we are smitten with the city. We love the noise, the uber rides, the towering buildings, the iconic landmarks, the influence the city has in the world, and the rich diversity of cultures and beliefs all converging on subways and street corners. NYC has stolen our hearts. It’s where we met and fell madly in love. It’s where we exchanged vows and said “I do”, and it’s where we plan to keep learning and growing and working late nights and long but fulfilling hours in pursuit of the audacious dreams God has put in our hearts.

Ben and I met at our church in New York, which we love and are so grateful for. I’m a part of the Teaching Team at Liberty Church, and for two years was Director of Liberty Foundation, the non-profit birthed out of Liberty Church committed to helping the hurting around the world.
The role took me to Swaziland, India, Honduras, and Haiti, where I had the great honor of working with local pastors, non-profits, and community leaders to bring lasting change and hope to those devastated by poverty and injustice. It was an experience that radically shaped my passion for doing good on a global scale.

I now serve on the executive team at Liberty Church, and oversee our leadership development. I also have a very top secret passion project I am currently working on that you will hear more about in the months to come… at which point it will no longer be top secret, but will become very exciting news.

Okay, so a lot of what I just wrote was the highlight reel of my life, but there are a few other things you should know to get a fuller picture of me:

  • I’m tone deaf, but that has never stopped me from singly loudly.
  • I’m clumsy.
  • I’m a vegetarian.
  • I’m an aspiring avid reader.
  • I’m a lover of comic books and all things superheroes.
  • I’m a Star Wars and Star Trek and Lord of the Rings and yes, Harry Potter fan. (#HermioneForPresident2020)
  • My true inspiration for working out is that I would like to be Wonder Woman when I grow up.
  • Gal Gadot has already gracefully filled the role, but I’d settle for being her stand-in.
  • I have a mild addiction to Candy Crush Soda, and the kids from Stranger Things are my #squadgoals.

I’m also so happy you are visiting my site! I probably don’t know you; we’ve probably never met, but I’d like to think we are fast-friends in the making. I think you’re awesome. I know there is no one in the world exactly like you and that there is a fire within you this world needs. I hope that by visiting and subscribing (yes, please subscribe!) you are encouraged with every post and update to be you – brilliantly, boldly and wonderfully YOU. I hope my blogs and videos make you laugh, make you think, and help you soar.

Okay, enough about me… I’d love to hear from you! Simply click here, and we can chat. And if you want to stay up-to-date on my schedule or are interested in having me speak at an upcoming event, then just click here.
